Youth Songwriting | Ages 12-18 | Wednesdays 5:45-7:15PM

Prerequisite: Willing to sing, play an instrument, write, and share their thoughts and feelings with the class. Ability to read basic note values and durations from sheet music.

Class instruction in songwriting: learning how to create original songs with chord progressions, rhythmic frameworks, melodies, and lyrics. Recommended: Knowledge of basic music theory or concurrent enrollment in a musicianship class. Students who do not meet the prerequisite may contact the instructor if they have interest in enrolling. Experience with vocal work and playing instruments, such as piano or guitar, are very helpful.
