REQUEST A PERFORMANCE

Our youth resident companies perform for a diverse calendar of annual neighborhood, civic, and cultural anchoring events every year. Would you like East Bay Center artists at you event?

Call and Response

East Bay Center’s “Call & Response” program is one of the many ways that the Center brings the joy of artistic performance to the community.  The Call and Response residency title comes from the annual community-based requests or “calls” to East Bay Center for performances relevant to Richmond’s diverse cultural life cycle events – to which we respond each year. Our 8 youth/young adult performing resident companies (90+ students) perform for a diverse calendar of annual neighborhood, civic, and cultural anchoring events, reaching audiences where they are at. Each year the Center receives a hundred or more requests to provide culturally relevant performances for everything from major regional events e.g. Richmond’s Cinco de Mayo, Juneteenth Slavery Emancipation and WWII Home Front Festivals, to the openings of neighborhood health clinics, housing project dedications, Day of the Dead Celebrations, blessings of Urban Tilth’s farm harvests and the somber final commemorations of youth lost to violence. Please reach out if you would like a Center ensemble to perform at your event.
