This instrument comes from a regional area called El Sotavento. The instrument is made from one piece of wood specifically Cedar. The Jarana is a five stringed instrument that can be doubled in strings depending on the Luthier that makes it.
The jarana is played with fingernails and not a guitar pick. Therefore the left hand should have short nails and the right hand should have slightly longer nails. It is recommended that you have some experience with a stringed instrument.
