Prerequisite: No experience required; Children’s Traditional Mexican Son or Children’s West African Dance recommended.
Learn very basic foot rhythms. Understanding loud and quiet steps and when they are utilized. Understand the Son Cycle and guidelines to a Fandango. Learn basic percussion rhythms on a pandero, quijada, cántaro, cajón (depends on the region of the semester). Learn to sing basic call and response. In addition, students will have an opportunity to learn the very basics of a stringed instrument (depending on the region of the semester).
