East Bay Center x Awesome Orchestra

Session 116: Bring Your Student to AÖC Day
Saturday, August 22 | 11:00 AM–2:00 PM
At East Bay Center for the Performing Arts
East Bay Center for the Performing Arts is excited to partner with Awesöme Orchestra Collective for a special community music-making event: Session 116: Bring Your Student to AÖC Day.
Founded in 2013 by conductor David Möschler, Awesöme Orchestra Collective began as an experiment in radically accessible orchestral music. Known for hosting pop-up orchestra sessions in libraries, cafés, auto body shops, and other public spaces, AÖC creates joyful, inclusive orchestral experiences for semi-professional, amateur, and student musicians alike. Their mission centers accessibility, community, and excellence, while actively working to increase equity and representation in orchestral music.
This special Richmond-based collaboration will bring together East Bay Center students, faculty, families, and the broader Awesöme Orchestra community for an afternoon of rehearsal, collaboration, and performance — all within a single session. Faculty members including Carolyn Walter, Arturo Rodriguez, and Andrea Landin have previously performed with AÖC, helping inspire this exciting partnership.
The session will feature several orchestral works, including a Ghanaian folk song arranged for full orchestra and percussion by East Bay Center’s Artistic Leadership team. Musicians from across the Bay Area will join our students for a unique intergenerational music experience centered on creativity, accessibility, and community.
Stay tuned for more updates and information!
