Meet Our Board of Directors
Nicole Barnett is a registered nurse by training and long-time Kaiser Permanente employee. She currently serves in a medical center executive role as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Nurse Executive at the Richmond Medical Center. As part of the East Bay executive team, she leads initiatives on clinical quality, safety and patient care experience as well as strategic community partnerships to execute the mission of the organization.
Nicole brings to her role on the board a passion for service informed by her lived experience as a long time Richmond resident and recipient of services that supported her journey from high school to college to career. She understands the ongoing deep necessity for the types of programs that were afforded her and their impact on making dreams of a better future tangible and accessible.
She is a proud alum of John F. Kennedy High School in Richmond where she was a member of many clubs including Math Engineering and Science Achievement (MESA), the Key Club, a youth led service club sponsored by Kiwanis Clubs, the marching band, symphonic band, and pep band. She went on to attend Oberlin College in Ohio where her loves for knowledge, music and the arts were all further nurtured. She continues to be active in the Oberlin African American Alumni Association today.
Nicole went on to complete her nursing education at Contra Costa College School of Nursing, and holds a BSN and MBA from CSU Dominguez Hills and a Doctor of Health Sciences from Nova Southeastern University. She also holds certifications in clinical nursing and executive nursing leadership.
Nicole and her husband of 35 years have two beautiful and talented children – Daniel who is pursing a degree in psychology and sociology, and Victoria who completed her undergraduate degree in neuroscience and Spanish and is actively exploring graduate programs to deepen her engagement in public health clinical research.
Zach has nearly 20 years of experience working across music, technology, and entertainment and is a lifelong supporter and advocate of creators, artists, and musicians. Zach spends his days as the Global Head of Brand Partnerships and Experiential Marketing at YouTube.
He is dedicated to philanthropy, actively supporting non-profit initiatives alongside his wife, who sits on the National Board of Planned Parenthood. In his earlier days, Zach, who was born and raised in Los Angeles and comes from a family deeply rooted in the music industry, worked as a radio DJ across California’s diverse cities such as Salinas, Santa Cruz, Monterey, and Los Angeles. Believing in the transformative power of the performing arts and the importance of centering equity, he is passionate about creating opportunities for young people, fostering creativity, and promoting personal and professional development. In his spare time, he is an avid motorcyclist, concertgoer, and music fan.
He is the proud stepfather of 19 year-old twins – Jordan who is working across various political campaigns and Sofia, who is in Manhattan studying at the New School. Prior to moving to the Bay Area, Zach spent nearly a decade in Brooklyn, working at MTV where he produced numerous award shows, events, and music marketing campaigns.
He moved to the East Bay in 2012 as CEO for the Tiburcio Vasquez Health Center in Hayward, CA, and joined LifeLong Medical Care, based in Berkely, CA, in 2020. LifeLong is a widely respected community health center system based in Berkeley, California, with a location right down the street from the Center.
David has served on a variety of boards and has been involved in the arts all his life as a pianist. He plays blues and is an avid jazz lover and plays monthly at his church. He is trained in classical music and studied theater at Shenandoah College and Conservatory of Music, in Virginia.
David has lived and traveled in Latin America, and he is fluent in Spanish. He is married to Isabel Dominguez-Vliet, and they have a blended family that includes five adult children and a cat named Zippy. He plans to retire in June 2024 to pursue a long-held dream to provide mobile clinic services and global health training in Guatemala. He looks forward to dedicating time and energy to the East Bay Center for the Performing Arts.
He holds a bachelor’s in health administration from Florida Atlantic University, in Boca Raton, FL and an MBA from Nova Southeastern, Ft. Lauderdale, FL
