ADMISSION PROCESS

The Diploma program is for entering 7th through 12th grade students. Generally, students enter the first level at the 7th or 8th grade, and the second level at the 9th or 10th grade. Students resident in any of the nine Greater Bay Area counties are eligible.

The student and family will fill out a basic information form. This is followed by an interview conducted by the Director of Repertoire Training and faculty member. There is no formal audition required but we would like to listen or watch a few minutes of performance; this will enable us to better place the student in the proper classes, lessons, and ensembles.

Experience level is not the sole criterion for selection. Acceptance in the program is based on the student’s focus, commitment, openness to new artistic experience, and willingness to work hard.

While qualified students are invited to apply at any time, the deadline for application to the next full year session (starting June 24) is April 5, 2013. Early applications are strongly encouraged, as slots fill up quickly, and the Center strives to enroll as balanced a group of students as possible across age, discipline focus, level of experience and gender.
